New DGFT platform launched for IEC related services


Did DGFT notify about the launching of the new DGFT platform?

Yes, The Directorate General of Foreign Trade ( DGFT) issued a Notice regarding trade, notice no. 16/2020-21, which was dated as 25/06/2020. It notified about the launching of a new DGFT platform as well as digital delivery of services that are IEC related. The platform was scheduled in order to go live on 13th July 2020.
 
How can one access the platform?

The platform will be made accessible via the DGFT website, www.dgft.govt.in

Why was this step taken?

The initiative was taken with a motive of revamping the services of the delivery system in order to promote and facilitate foreign trading. Likewise, the new platform is also a crucial part of the Digital India Program. The new platform will also make it easier for the running of the business.

How will the new DGFT platform be brought into implementation?

The new DGFT platform will be brought into implementation in phases.
During the first phase, the catering of the services relating to IEC issuance, modifications, amendments, shall be done via the website itself. A chat bot will be there as well. Several other online modules that are related to Advance Authorization (AA), EPCG, as well as Export Obligation Discharge The certificate will be enrolled under the next phase.
The new platform designed has various features that are described below:
  • One can get access to the services via username and password-based system. The ones who are logging for the first time, for him/her, the logins/user ID can be made registering on the given platform.
  • In order to create a user ID, it is mandatory for IEC holders to have a registered mobile no/ email-ids. And then later authentication shall be conducted for the same information via OTP/email-based authentication process.
  • The login IDs of the users should be linked with their specific IECs. The linking process will be made available post login via Digital signature/ e-sign that is Aadhaar based.
  • It is necessary to have digital signature/ e-sign that is Aadhaar-based in order to apply for as well as for modification purpose of IEC or that may be adding or updating users who are IEC linked. Users can take the needed steps for updating their information on DSC/Aadhar.
  • IEC holders are then able to use their user profile in order to have access and be engaged to DGFT and the services that it provides. A benefit of this being users able to file their application electronically, that are related to IEC, AA, EPCG, that even includes amendments and redemption made, proper monitoring of application status, having queries, a reply for deficiencies, etc. among the other services that are related to Foreign Trade policies.
  • Also, with respect to IEC application and modifications, trade notice also notifies that such services will remain suspended starting from 3:00 pm on 10/07/2020 till 13/07/2020 for the configuration of the system.
